Proof Standards

A SWOP certified proof must be provided with your disk! (If you do not have access to this type of proof please submit the closest possible type of proof). Please supply one of the following types of SWOP Certified Proofs:

• Kodak Approval
• Matchprint
• CREO Spectrum
• Iris Digital Proof

Modern Bride Connection adheres to strict graphic arts industry standards for color calibration and reproduction. However, due to the limitations of customer proofing devices and the variation in monitor color display, we cannot guarantee that the reproduction will exactly match the color displayed on your monitor or supplied proof if it is not calibrated to industry standards. Please refer to SWOP (Specifications Web Offset Publications - www.swop.org) standards for more information.

• COLOR ads should be accompanied by a COLOR PROOF
• BLACK & WHITE ads should be accompanied by a B&W PROOF

Labeling Materials

Label the materials you send with the following information

• Issue Date
• Publication Name
• Ad Name
• Contact Person & Phone Number
• Email Address

If a locked file is supplied and is not designed to our specifications we will request a new file to be submitted.

Final Digital Advertisement Note To Client

If you are submitting a finished digital ad, you will not be receiving a proof via fax or e-mail unless specifically requested. If needed please make your request directly to your production coordinator.

Accepted File Formats

“Mac” OR “PC” file in the following formats only!

Software

• QuarkXpress 3.0 or higher (Up to 6)
• Photoshop 2.5 or higher (Up to 8)
• Adobe Illustrator 5.0 or higher (Up to 11)
• Adobe InDesign (Up to 3)
• Adobe Acrobat PDF v 1.3 or 1.4 ONLY

Compatible Media

• Macintosh formatted: CD-ROMs. (Send a print out of the contents of the disk.)

Fonts

• Postscript fonts. (Please include both the screen and printer fonts)

Acrobat Hi-Res PDF's (Must have)

• All fonts embedded (No True Type fonts)
• Color Mode = CMYK or Grayscale
• All images and files must be submitted at 300dpi.
• Do not include OPI in the file

Scans

• Photos need to be scanned no less than 300dpi
• Line art needs to be scanned no less than 600dpi. If your logo or clip art is pure black & white, scan at 600dpi using the line art setting.
• 4-color photo must be saved in CMYK mode.
• Black & White photo - save as GRAYSCALE.
• Use scaling of 100% when you scan your photo or art, so that your scanned work is at its original size.

What to Send On Your Disk

• Ad layout file (Quark)
• Position marks for non-bleed ads and trim & bleed marks for bleed ads
• Ad must have at least a fine point border
• Supply an unflattened layered file
• The screen and printer fonts (Postscript ONLY)
• All scanned photos in Photoshop TIFF or EPS format and all scanned logos in either Photoshop Bitmap or Illustrator EPS format
• Art should be linked to Quark document

Unacceptable File Formats

We do not accepts the following file formats

Software

• Adobe Pagemaker
• Corel Draw
• Freehand
• Microsoft: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Publisher, etc.
• Please refer to the acceptable software when designing your ad.
• Floppy Disks (3.5)

Fonts

• Truetype fonts

Scans

• Do not scan anything lower than 300dpi
• Do not save scans in RGB mode
• Do not send scans from a digital camera. Note: If not set properly digital cameras produce images at 72dpi. (this is a universal setting and will not reproduce acceptable quality)
• DO NOT SEND ARTWORK/PHOTOS DOWNLOADED FROM THE INTERNET. Internet graphics are unusable because they are typically saved at 72dpi

What Not To Send on Your Disk

• Text used in a flattened Photoshop file. (If text is created in Photoshop, send the layered file at 300dpi.)
• Additional files not being used in your ad
