Acceptable File Formats
PDFX1A, TIFF/IT-P1, CT/LW or raster-based DCS2 with a contract proof. If your existing pre-press vendor cannot supply a TIFF/IT file, please contact the QuadARM Call center to have the ad processed.
Please refer to PostScript and Distilling specifications for your particular applications.
Additional Instructions
- Information should be supplied on a Macintosh formatted Zip or CD-ROM.
- Materials should include three files: final page (FP), continuous tone (CT) and line work (LW).
- CT file should comply with SWOP standards between 200 and 400 dpi. LW and HC files are 2400 dpi.
- Line screen requirement: 133
- Total density should not exceed SWOP, which is 300%.
- Any 5th or spot color should be in a separate file (please include a separate check list).
- All required trapping must be included in the file.
- Black text should be merged with the LW: right reading portrait mode only, 100% size, no rotations, standard trim and bleed marks in all separations.
- Use only PostScript fonts.
- Truetype fonts are unacceptable.
- Avoid using Multiple Master fonts.
- Images for 4/C ads must be submitted as final, high-resolution, CMYK files.
- Ads created in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, PowerPoint or any other word processing program WILL NOT be accepted.
- All digital pages should include a printout of contents of each disk supplied as well as correct copy information for content and positioning.
Color Proofs
- Provide (1) SWOP approved contract proof and (1) color laser
Preferred Color Guidance
Please provide a Kodak Approval, CREO Spectrum or Iris digital proofs for color guidance on press. The supplied color guidance must meet all SWOP specifications and must include a 6mm 5%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% CMYK patch strip for quality color.
